Ever since the first show on the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona, where hundreds of thousands of Swifties watched the opening night from blurry TikTok livestreams, I have been tuning into each show’s livestreams to watch the surprise song acoustic section. This list is basically just a collection of my favourite Taylor Swift songs (other than the songs I have lucked out on that have made it on the official setlist–shoutout ‘My Tears Ricochet’ and ‘Long Live’) that I would die to hear live! The following list is in order of the tour, not necessarily by my preference!

1. ‘Cowboy Like Me feat. Marcus Mumford’ and ‘White Horse’

This was a tough loss close to the start of the tour. Where I live, my time zone is EST, so all of Taylor’s West Coast shows were very difficult to stay awake for. Unfortunately, I had to sleep through this. Waking up to the news that Taylor played my favourite song on Evermore with Marcus Mumford was quite traumatic to be honest.

2. ‘Death By A Thousand Cuts’ and ‘Clean’

This is Gracie Abrams’ fault, unfortunately, and I think Jack Antonoff, too if I remember correctly. Both made requests for these songs and both ruined me. The worst part is that I have now lost both songs twice because Taylor just loves to play them so much!

3. ‘The Great War feat. Aaron Dessner’ and ‘You’re On Your Own Kid’

There will never be enough words to explain the pain this combination caused me. Both are songs I adore so much. YOYOK has truly changed lives and I can only dream that I will get to experience it live one day. Sorry Floridians but what did y’all do to deserve this?

4. ‘Getaway Car feat. Jack Antonoff’ and ‘Maroon’

Do I even have to explain this one? Not only was THE Jack Antonoff there, but they played one of the most iconic reputation songs to exist and topped it off by playing one of the best songs from Midnights! They even had the audacity to do it without me there. Thankfully, ‘Maroon’ has been repeated a handful of times now and I have hope that I may get to hear it at one of my shows.

5. ‘Holy Ground’ and ‘False God’

‘False God’ is another one of my favourite songs ever, especially on Lover, and hearing it on piano?! Absolutely life-changing. It is a tough tossup between this performance and her 2019 SNL performance but both are equally iconic and incredible.

6. ‘I Wish You Would’ and ‘the lakes’

Nothing but perfection from these two. ‘The Lakes’ was originally my favourite from folklore, so it definitely made my heart full to hear her perform it in person for the first time. It was a very tough loss for me.

7. ‘Seven feat. Aaron Dessner…again’ and ‘The Story Of Us’

Aaron Dessner needs to be banned from the Eras Tour (unless I am there) because how are the best songs always chosen when he is there? I would pay an embarrassing amount of money to be in the presence of these two. Give them a guitar and a microphone and history is made.

8. ‘Dear John’ and ‘Daylight’

Again, does this need an explanation? Perfection. Iconic. Broke my heart.

9. ‘Ivy’, ‘I miss you I’m sorry feat. Gracie Abrams’ and ‘Call It What You Want’

Now this was just cruel if I am being honest. Ohio got three songs, one being a cover with Gracie Abrams?!!! And she did it on Canada Day. The audacity. But I loved it. It was amazing and I am \ hoping this could happen again during Toronto night three.

10. ‘Right Where You Left Me feat. Aaron Dessner’ and ‘Castles Crumbling’

‘Right where You Left Me’ had been fan waited for months and this crowd got to hear it live with Aaron Dessner present again. Luckily for international fans, Taylor is resetting her surprise songs in 2024, so the chance of hearing this again is very high! This performance of ‘Castles Crumbling’ made me fall in love with the vault song too.

11. ‘Stay, Stay, Stay’ and ‘All Of The Girls You Loved Before’

This may be a hot take because ‘Stay, Stay, Stay’ is not always loved by Swifties, but I would take this song any day if it meant I got to hear ‘All Of The Girls You Loved Before’ live. It has quickly become my favourite song from Lover ever since its release.

12. ‘Dress’ and ‘exile’

Need I even say anything about this? Two of the best songs from their respective albums were played the same night. If you have not seen a video of the ‘exile’ performance, I would seek one out and watch the beauty that is the crowd singing Taylor’s part back to her.

13. ‘I Know Places’ and ‘King Of My Heart’

My favourite song from 1989 and my favourite from reputation. Both performed so beautifully; the vocals were out of this world. I am forever jealous of those who got to be there but forever reminding myself I will be seeing Taylor live twice next year!
