When it becomes the holiday season, when it’s too cold to do anything remotely outside, all you want to do is curl up and watch movies. Everybody needs a good list of recommendations. Here are mine!

Stuck In Love

This movie has been one of my favorites for years now. It was released in 2012 and stars actors/actresses Lily Collins, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly and Nat Wolff. I mostly gravitate toward this movie because one of the main characters is a writer and he wants his two children to write as well. It shows you three different main characters who have very complex ways of loving. It takes you through a year of their life to show the audience how much a person can change and the growth that love can do for a person.

Elf

Elf has been my favorite Christmas movie ever since I was little. There is something about this movie that gives me nostalgia yet still makes me laugh every single time I watch it. Will Ferrell is the main character, Buddy, who plays a human that was accidentally raised to be an elf. Although this movie is funny, it takes you through the journey of Buddy trying to find his dad while also trying to navigate the human world. If you want a good christmas movie that is comedy but also heartwarming at times, this is a must watch.

Someone Great

This is one of my favorite comfort movies starring Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise. It is about a girl being broken up with by her boyfriend of five years before she left for her dream job. It reminds me of girlhood and just being a girl in general trying to grief someone who’s still alive. It takes you on her journey with her two best friends that are there for her. It’s not holiday related but it’s definitely one I watch no matter the season.

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas

This is a movie I used to watch all the time when I was a kid and still enjoy watching now. It shows you three separate stories from the famous Disney characters Donald, Goofy and Mickey. It is very nostalgic to see the characters that I used to watch when I was little on the screen for Christmas. Throughout the movie, they all learn the true meaning of the holiday

Ice Princess

Although this movie isn’t necessarily holiday-related, It always made me want to go ice skating during the holidays. It stars Michele Trachtenberg, who has always dreamt about competing in ice skating competitions. This takes you through her challenges trying to make her way through the competition world while also trying to hide it from her mom. Whenever I go ice skating, I try to imagine that I’m skating just like she did in the movie.
