Here’s Everything We Know About ‘Heartstopper’ Season 3

Updated Published

I may be in the U.S. but mentally, I’m hanging out in Europe with the Heartstopper crew. Ever since Netflix debuted the first two seasons of Alice Oseman’s beloved graphic novel Heartstopper, fans have been eagerly awaiting for the world of Charlie and Nick to return for Season 3. Heartstopper has become one of the top shows to tackle topics like LGBTQIA+, anxiety, and the pressures of growing up. Due to its popularity, it’s now a staple series for Gen Z.

With Netflix announcing on Dec. 15 that Heartstopper has wrapped filming on Season 3, many are curious to know what’s next for the Heartstopper gang. Here’s everything we know.

What is the first episode of Heartstopper season 3 titled?

When Netflix announced that Heartstopper would be renewed for season 3 as well as a season 2 confirmation in May 2022, they announced it in the most Heartstopper way possible by teasing fans. Alongside the Season 3 announcement, Netflix revealed the title of the first episode, which is “Love.” Throughout Season 2, fans wondered g if or when Charlie would say he loved Nick, but it never happened and the season ended on a cliffhanger. However, this episode title may be a slight hint at Charlie potentially saying he loves Nick in season 3, which we’re all rooting for.

There are a few changes to the cast —and we’re swooning already.

With a new season of Heartstopper, there are bound to be some new cast members and cast changes. Oseman confirmed online that Ben Hope (played by Sebastian Croft) would not be returning for Season 3. The reason behind this is that Ben was only a character inside of Heartstopper’s first volume, but the show had always been written to “broaden and expand the story” of the world of Heartstopper. Oseman also explained the reason why Ben was in the first two seasons, saying “I felt Ben’s presence was necessary to properly address those topics,” referencing Charlie and Ben’s past relationship.

Heartstopper Season 3 will introduce a new character to the world of Nick and Charlie, and a character that fans have been waiting to see for a long time. Oseman announced Darragh Hand will be playing Michael Holden in Season 3 on Instagram on Nov. 27. Michael Holden is a character in Oseman’s first novel, Solitaire, and becomes the love interest for Charlie’s older sister, Tori. Oseman explained that Michael is “a quirky, eccentric optimist with a sunshine disposition” and “perfectly complimented Jenny Walser’s Tori Spring” in the Instagram caption. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m already obsessed with Michael and Tori’s relationship.

When will Heartstopper season 3 be released?

On July 29, Netflix announced that all eight episodes of Heartstopper Season 3 will be released on Oct. 3. This marks the latest news about the series’ upcoming season since Oseman posted that Heartstopper wrapped filming for the Season 3 on Instagram in December 2023, revealing that it will be going into “uncharted territory” and present “new challenges for our cast.”

Now that we finally have a Heartstopper Season 3 release date, the countdown is officially on!
