Emma Stone Called Taylor Swift An Assh*le Backstage At The Golden Globes

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony took place on Jan. 7, and it was undeniably a night to remember. One of the most anticipated attendees was, of course, Taylor Swift. Swift, who’s film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was nominated for Cinematic And Box Office Achievement, made headlines after the ceremony for her reactions with friends Selena Gomez and Keleigh Teller. The ceremony was also a time for Swift to reunite with one of her other long-time besties, actress Emma Stone.

When Stone won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her performance in Poor Things, Swift was seen loudly cheering and applauding for her friend. When asked later that night what she thought of Swift’s loud cheering, Stone jokingly said, “What an *sshole, am I right?”

After pretending to walk away from the microphone, Stone continued, “I’ve known her for almost 20 years and I was very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight which was wonderful and yes, what an *sshole.”

This sweet friendship really does go back almost 20 years. After meeting at the 2008 Young Hollywood Awards, the two had been spotted hanging out together regularly. Both women have always been extremely supportive of each other’s work: Stone attended the Eras Tour three times, including on opening night in her hometown of Glendale, Arizona. Swift was also recently spotted at the Poor Things premiere.

When Swift released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in July 2023, it was widely thought that the new from-the-vault track “When Emma Falls In Love” was about Emma Stone. When Stone was a guest on The Graham Norton Show in January 2024, Norton asked her if Swift’s song was about her. Stone playfully responded, “You’ll have to ask her!”

Swift has not officially confirmed whether the song is about Stone or not, but one thing is for sure: The friendship between these two is heartwarming, and fans were thrilled to see them supporting one another in their film endeavors that night.
