I’ve seen a lot of movies, many of them being romantic comedies. Most recently, I saw Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell in a classic enemies-to-lovers trope in Anyone But You. Truthfully; I loved this movie. It was funny, had a great cast, and thankfully, Sweeney and Powell had great chemistry, especially during that shower scene. IYKYK.Â
If you have seen Anyone But You, it’s still in theaters but for a limited time. If you won’t be able to get to a theater any time soon, you can wait until the movie’s on streaming, because it might be there real soon. However, if you’re like me, and have seen the movie already, chances are you can’t stop thinking about that shower scene. And there’s a reason why: it was super hot. Spoiler Warning: Spoilers for Anyone But You follow.
While I’m sure you could put two-and-two together and figure out that I’m indeed referencing a steamy shower scene, I’m still here to let you know all about it. Following their act of pretending to be a couple throughout the movie, Sweeney’s character Bea, and Powell’s character Ben begin to be attracted to each other. After falling off a ship into the Sydney Harbour, Bea and Ben stay close to each other on a buoy waiting for a helicopter to rescue them. Unfortunately for Ben, he’s terrified of heights. Thankfully, Bea knows his “serenity song,” which is none other than “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.Â
After being rescued by the helicopter, Bea and Ben make it back on land and take a car back to the house they’re staying at. This is where it gets exciting. Ben makes Bea a grilled cheese (a really good-looking one, BTW), which is exactly what he did the first night they spent together. Sexual tensions start to rise, and the two decide to take a shower together. You know cuz, showering together saves water, and that’s it!Â
Ben and Bea get super intimate in this scene, and their chemistry really shines through here. But, Sweeney and Powell shared that filming that scene was really awkward, especially since they had crew members telling them what they should and shouldn’t do in an intimate scene.
“When we were doing that, there were other people weighing in on what we should do in that scene,” Powell told E! News in December 2023. “I was like, ‘I don’t like when crew members are weighing in on how I should do a sexy shower scene.’ You start getting in the head of some of your crew members. You’re like, ‘That is weird, man. Can’t look at you the same way.'”Â
Sweeney shared a similar sentiment. “There’s always an awkward moment, but I don’t know if it’s because you’re so close to someone other than the 40 crew members that are watching you film this—that’s the awkward part,” she said. “If anything, I feel more safe with someone who I’m friends with than some people that you don’t really know.”
Props to these two for making a great scene while having a ton of people watching them. I truly could not imagine doing that, so thank goodness for the actors who can.Â
