Dust off your red blazers and put on your golden crowns, we’re almost back to the world of Young Royals. After Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, fans of the show will soon know what’s next for Wilhelm and Simon. Fans may be sad to know that the third season of the beloved Netflix series will be its final season, but they can expect to get answers on the happenings in Hillerska. Dealing with the aftermath of the events of Season 2, Simon and Wilhelm, alongside the rest of the main characters, will also be dealing with their personal lives, graduation, and yes, more royal family drama.
With the final season coming out in 2024, we still have questions that hopefully will get answered throughout the season. For right now, we do have a couple of things confirmed for Season 3 and even a glimpse into all the latest drama from Hillerska.
When will season 3 of Young Royals drop?
Fans of Young Royals can stream the first five episodes of Season 3 starting Mar. 11. However, they’ll have to wait a week for the series finale, which drops on Mar. 18.
Who’s returning to season 3 of Young Royals?
Most of the main cast will be returning for Season 3, including Malte Gårdinger, Nikita Uggla, Frida Argento, Pernilla August, Carmen Gloria Pérez, and Magnus Roosmann. Edvin Ryding and Omar Rudberg are set to reprise their roles as Wilhelm and Simon, allowing fans to watch the students of Hillerska one last time before the series ends.
What’s going to happen in season 3?
After Wilhelm admitted to the press that he was in the leaked video with Simon in Season 2, Season three will focus on the fact that “Wilhelm’s speech has consequences not only in the court but also in the school.” It’s also teased that “Hillerska confronts the worst crisis in the school’s history,” signaling that something big is happening at Hillerska before graduation. With Simon and Wilhelm being out together, we can expect to see more of the duo before they graduate and their personal lives now intertwined.
Why is season 3 the final season?
In December 2022, the show’s co-creator and head writer, Lisa Ambjörn, told ComingSoon that she had always “imagined” Young Royals would be “told in three parts,” and that the ending of the show had always been clear since the beginning of the series. Ambjörn went on to express her gratitude for the series, explaining that she was “thankful and honored” to be able to finish Young Royals in the three-part story that she had always imagined.
With Season 3 on its way in March, we can’t wait to see what comes next for the Young Royals gang in this final season.
