Do you have a Disney throwback playlist because same. Disney used to be the best back then, movies like Descendents, High School Musicals, Lemonade Mouth, and Cheetah Girls absolute bangers. This is strictly for the 2000s kids. Let’s really talk about this because I am so passionate about these songs. Songs nowadays don’t hit or feel as rhythmic as these songs.
Okay, you guys all know the show shake it up and let’s all be honest we all thought those dances were so good. You then rewatch and realize they were actually really terrible, just basic dance moves but the songs were so good. That song by Bella Thorne called “TTYLXOX” is soooo good. It is short for “Talk to you later hugs and kisses.” and it means playful and flirtatious, it is such a happy song,
Next, the movie “Let It Shine” has so many songs because it’s a rap battle movie, but the songs; “Me and You” and “Don’t Run Away”. Don’t Run Away in the scene was a romance song and about forgiveness. My favorite lyric is “You’re more than meets the eye, girl you pterodactyl fly.” It just rhymed so perfectly and Tyler James Williams and Coco Jones singing together was so cute.
The Greatest Showmen was one of the best movies of all time on disney. The songs like the Greatest Show and “Rewrite the Stars” with Zendaya were definitely top tier. The song Rewrite the Stars demonstrates the struggles within the characters and how they are judged in society, whether it’s the color of their skin or the way they dress, or how their bodies look.
The movie Lemonade Mouth is my all time favorite movie on Disney. Bridget Mendley was a top tier singer in the disney era. The songs like She’s So Gone and Determinate carried for years. I still know every word to determine, it’s such a happy song, and a song I listen to when I want to reminisce.
High School Musical 1,2 & 3 was my whole childhood. The storyline was very cute, sports and love. The songs like Bet On it, All for one. The friendship, and the different career path that differentiated, especially in the song Stick to the Status Quo, was very inspiring. I don’t think people look deep enough into the storyline and what they mean. The song Gotta go my own way is literally in my sad playlist with Vanessa Hudgens. I love Sharpay’s songs “Fabulous” and “Bop to the Top.” Her confidence and the different classes showed some part of the reality of high school.
Animated movies like Moana, Home, Frozen have really good messages that I think children should watch these movies, they’re ageless. Songs like How Far I’ll Go, and Love is an Open Door, and Towards the Sun by Rihanna. Toward the Sun is the best song especially to add to your sad song playlist.
Now, to talk about the best show, Ant Farm was by far one of the best Disney shows. Chyna Ann Mclain carried with all her songs. My favorite episode was the halloween episode when she turns into medusa, everyone who was gifted, and “weird” showed them from a different point of view as monsters. I l love the song Calling all the Monsters.
Disney back then was the best I missed when we were kids and had the privilege to just come from school, watch cable tv, see new episodes of ANT Farm, and get excited when new kids’ movies came out, just school but no responsibility. All these songs above are so nostalgic and make me remember every time I listen to them.
