Ways to Have a Festive Valentine’s Day When You’re Single

Valentine’s Day is known to be a holiday for couples. Aside from being a consumerist’s dream, February 14 is designed to be a celebration of romantic love. Even so, if you happen to be single that does not mean you should avoid being festive. Here are a few ideas that you can incorporate into your day.

1. Bake a sweet treat

Baking is the best hobby to do on Valentine’s Day. From chocolate chip cookies with pink and red M&M’s and cherry thumbprint cookies, there are so many cute recipes to try out that lean into the Valentine’s theme.

2. Watch a comfort movie

Romantic comedies are truly meant for this time of year and there are plenty to choose from. But if on-screen romances are not your thing, rewatching a favorite movie or television show is a great option for making this Valentine’s Day an enjoyable one.

3. Do some self care activities

“Self care” is such a broad term that it can mean something different to everyone. Pull out your journal, put on a face mask, or light a candle! A Valentine’s Day spent single is an excellent excuse to have a relaxing night to yourself.

4. Organize a hangout with friends

Valentine’s Day does not just have to be for romantic love. It is a wonderful reason to get together with your friend group and throw a themed party straight from Pinterest. Who doesn’t love pink and red decorations? Whether your friends are single or in a relationship, Galentine’s parties are a must.

5. Do a combination of all of these

Of course, you do not have to only do one thing on this list. Valentine’s Day does not have to be restricted to February 14. There is a whole month to do all of these activities at some point. Combining them is also always an option.

Being single means that Valentine’s Day may not be celebrated with a significant other. Nonetheless, it still can be an eventful and fulfilling day. With the help of some hobbies, movies, and friends, Valentine’s Day is totally worth celebrating.
