Sorry Besties, Ariana Grande Won’t Be Releasing Any More ‘Eternal Sunshine’ Singles

Ariana Grande is finally back in the studio, marking her return to the music scene. Her single “yes, and?” released on Jan 12., from her upcoming album Eternal Sunshine, debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released. But despite the single’s success, Grande will not be releasing any more Eternal Sunshine singles.

Eternal Sunshine is Grande’s seventh studio album, set to be released on Mar. 8. Grande has posted various album covers on her Instagram page, but has yet to release the full track list or announce any singles. That all changed on Feb. 5 when Grande shared a post on her Instagram story announcing that no more singles will be released before Eternal Sunshine. Sigh.

In the Instagram story, Grande wrote, “I wanted to say
as hard as it is to resist the urge to share another song or single with you asap, I would really love for you to experience the album in full this time. there will of course be more singles off of this project once it is out (and we may have a little surprise or two up our sleeves to hold you over until then so don’t you worry).” So, not all hope is lost. Does this mean there’s going to be some bonus tracks? I sure hope so!

Grande continued by explaining her decision to not release any singles before  thanking her fans for their love and support. “Waiting a little longer for you to be able to listen fully through first really is my ideal way for you all to experience this body of work,” she added. “Thank you for your trust in my vision and plan! You have waited so long for new music from me and I am so grateful for your patience! I look forward to savoring every second of this new era with you all and I sincerely cannot wait for it to be yours!”

This project seems very personal for Grande, especially considering the album is named after one of her and her late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller’s, favorite movies. In a 2014 interview with Complex, Miller said, “Whenever I’m talking to a girl, I always tell them to watch Eternal Sunshine. It cuts deep.” I’m crying.

Even though no new singles will be released, Grande has revealed minimal details about the tracklist. On Jan. 27, she shared a teaser of the 13-song tracklist to her Instagram story. The opener is titled “Intro (End of the World),” track five is “Eternal Sunshine,” and “Yes, And?” is No. 9. No other details have been released so far, according to Billboard.

Grande’s return to music is something that fans have been patiently waiting for since Positions was released in 2020. Within the timeframe from Positions to Eternal Sunshine, Grande collaborated with artists such as Kelly Clarkson and The Weeknd on singles but has not released a full-length album. However, in 2023, Grande released Yours Truly (Tenth Anniversary Edition) which featured live renditions of some fan favorites, including as “Tattooed Heart,” and “Honeymoon Avenue.”

I’m so excited for this new era and I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the album sounds like! If the songs are anything like “Yes, And?” it will quickly become one of my favorite albums by her.
