My coworkers and I were talking about Valentine’s Day and we came to the conclusion that, at least in the past few years, this has been a holiday mostly for single people, and I am totally here for it. Celebrating the love I have for myself has been my favorite thing to do through my college years. I love to take myself out on solo dates every once in a while, and of course Valentine’s Day isn’t going to be the exception. Here are 8 solo date ideas for all the single people who’d like to treat themselves this Valentine’s Day.
Go to your favorite store

If you’re into tech, go to Best Buy. If you’re into reading, enjoy a day at the bookstore. Arts and crafts? Go to the art store! In my case, I’ll probably visit the bookstore on the 14th, since there’s no better way for me to enjoy myself than being surrounded by books. Even more, gift yourself a treat and splurge a bit if you can!
Go to the movies
Late nights at the movies are so fun and calming for me. I have yet to go by myself, but it’s something I really want to try soon. Sitting down and enjoying a movie that you chose, no matter how bad or good it is, is a great way to enjoy your own company!
Sunset/Sunrise watching
You don’t have to get out of the car to witness a sunrise if you don’t feel safe around your town. Simply put on some music or even bring a book to read while the sun shines into the car. It’s an easy and peaceful activity to do by yourself.
Spa Day at home

I love a good face mask and doing my nails while watching a comfort movie. I used to do it at least every Sunday, and I really want to get back to it. If you’re feeling a little extra, you could also schedule a massage at an actual spa!
Visit a new place/town
It might be a bit intimidating to go on a roadtrip all by yourself, but isn’t there a coffee shop that’s a little far from your area that you’ve been meaning to go to? It could be a bookstore, a crafts store, a specific restaurant, or even a museum. Take yourself out on a date and go there! Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse.
Build a fort
Then spend the afternoon doing your favorite things in it! Grab your laptop and watch your favorite movie, do some coloring or crocheting, dedicate time to a hobby, and just over-all have a cozy afternoon doing all your favorite things in it. You can even include the Spa Day at home in the fort!
Have a Dance Party

I love dance parties! They’re without a doubt the best stress relievers and help boost my mood almost instantly! If you’re a swiftie, it’s the perfect day to rent out Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film and belt out the songs while dancing around the living room. No judgment, just you and your favorite tunes.
Bike Ride or a Hike
For all of you that love to get active and move around, you can rent out a bike or a scooter to take around town! Look around your neighborhood or take a hike for a beautiful view!
Those are a few ideas to treat yourself to a nice day or evening on Valentine’s Day. I know it may feel silly and lonely this time of year thinking about all the people that may be spending the day with a significant other, but show yourself a little love by treating yourself to fun, new solo experiences. I love Valentine’s Day, and for now I’m enjoying my single years as much as I can.
Lots of love,
