While trends seem to be coming and going at lightning speed these days, some stick around for a bit longer. I feel like we’ve all been hearing about red being “in” since the fall semester, but the trend is yet to slow down. Rather than the deep, moody tones we saw in the fall and winter, though, here are some bright and fun ways to incorporate cherry red into your spring wardrobe.

Red Cowboy boots

Cowboy boots have easily been one of the biggest footwear trends over the last 2 years. Whether it’s to an outdoor concert or a football game, girls everywhere have been incorporating this western twist to their outfits. Paired with an all-black or denim outfit, red cowboy boots add the perfect colorful pop to an ensemble for a Saturday in the ‘burg with the girls.

Red Leather Jacket

Another emerging trend lately has been leather jackets. Instead of going for the classic black or brown look, mix it up and add some color. Leather jackets are timeless, and there are plenty of secondhand ones on the market if you want to be eco-friendly and still look cute for a night out on the town.

Formal dresses

Spring Formals are right around the corner for many JMU organizations. Wear a bright yet classic tone to stand out at the function. Pair with neutral, sparkly, or even leopard print shoes to incorporate another rising trend this season.

cardigans + sweaters

Keep it preppy this spring with a cherry red sweater or cardigan on top of a simple t-shirt or tank with jeans. Bonus points if you wear it over your shoulders!
