My Experience as A New Listener of Phoebe Bridgers’ Music

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Holy Cross chapter.

For the longest time, a lot of my friends would listen to Phoebe Bridgers and encourage me to do so as well. While I appreciated her music, I found it often hard for me to get into. While it was music I definitely would gravitate towards, I think something was holding me back. Often, I am used to listening to more upbeat music, and although Phoebe had some faster paced songs, the majority of them were just a little too slow for me.

I started off by listening to some of her more popular songs such as “Kyoto” and “Motion Sickness”. These were more my speed and immediately went on my playlist. Overtime, however, I learned to grow an appreciation for her music. Now, my winter playlist is FILLED with her songs. While I still can’t say she’s my top artist at the moment, I definitely have gotten into her music, respect her craft, and find the lyrics touching.

Here are my recommendations for new Phoebe listeners: :

  • Kyoto
  • Motion sickness
  • Not Strong Enough
  • So Much Wine
  • Graceland Too
  • Emily I’m Sorry
  • True Blue
  • Smoke Signals
  • Savior Complex
  • Cool About It
