Are you heading off to the beach for spring break this March? Oftentimes, packing can end up being one of the most stressful parts of a trip. Below, I share my top five packing tips to help your trip run as smoothly as possible!
- Make a “Forget me not” List
-
Making a list of things you often forget to pack, will help you avoid the dreaded experience of forgetting to bring an essential on your trip. For example, I always forget to pack sunglasses, my digital camera, and my retainer. Compiling this list is a proactive measure to ensure you have everything you need when you arrive in paradise!
- Packing cubes/compression bags
-
Packing cubes will make overpacking a thing of the past. These bags don’t look like they would do much but the amount of space they save is incredible. Another perk of this packing hack is the ability to categorize your items and outfits into different bags. This makes going through your suitcase when you get to your destination so much easier, instead of rummaging through your entire bag to find a single item, everything will be perfectly organized!
- Reusable toiletry containers
-
Instead of purchasing overpriced travel sizes of your favorite toiletries, invest in quality TSA-approved reusable toiletry containers. Travel-sized items are typically too large and bulky for your average trip. Buying toiletry containers streamlines the whole packing process. My personal favorites are the magnetic Cadence containers!
- coordinate sharing items with friends
-
If traveling with friends, coordinating larger items to share can save so much space. For example, instead of everyone bringing a different hair tool such as a curler or a straightener organize what you will bring and which item. Other examples of items to share are larger toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, body wash, lotion, or accessories such as handbags and sunglasses.
- Outfit planning
-
I’m a huge advocate for packing clothes by organizing set outfits. Instead of packing your favorite tops and bottoms, you can maximize your packing by picking out versatile pieces that can be used in multiple outfits. For example, I would pack one bottom that I could wear with several different tops and vice versa. In addition, I would also put together outfits and style them in advance and take a picture of each, so instead of figuring out what to wear on your trip, you can focus on having a good time!
Happy spring break!
