Barbie movies were part of my childhood. My friends and I still watch them now, and I wondered what better way to rate my childhood classics!

Barbie Mermaidia

This was my all-time favourite Barbie movie! The adventures Elena goes on with Bible to save Fairytopia were so fascinating to me (at the time). Laverna, the villain, used to scare me as a kid, but I’d still watch this movie even now for some nostalgia. I loved the part where Elena saves Nori and Nalu.

Rating: 10/10

Barbie in the 3 musketeers

This movie showed me little about what female empowerment was about. Such as I enjoyed the sword fighting, the training aspect, and the costumes. I loved the plot line of this movie specifically. The theme of never giving up and following your dreams inspired little me. I loved the part where Barbie and the Musketeers must save the prince.

Rating: 10/10

Barbie as rapunzel

The graphics in this movie are horrible but so nostalgic to me. The magic paintbrush was fascinating to me. I always wanted one as a kid. The painting/ artwork was beautiful. The dragons, the magic forest, and her tower were eye-opening to little me. My favourite part of the movie was when Rapunzel and Penelope had to cross over the magic wall.

Rating 7/10

Barbie and the 12 dancing princesses

This movie was why I wanted to take Ballet as a kid. The storyline of this movie was intense. Rowena (the villain) was brilliant at poisoning the king. Rowena was also my least favourite character in the whole Barbie movie. The magic, the dancing, and the music were by far my favourite.

Rating: 8/10

The barbie diaries

Watching this movie made me think this is what my high school experience would be like. I loved her diary and the magic bracelet aspect. I had the same bracelet at home. I loved Barbie’s high school style in this movie.

Rating: 9/10

Barbie as the princess and the pauper

My best friend and I loved this movie growing up. Plus, Preminger is the funniest Barbie villain. I loved how Annalise didn’t marry a prince; instead, she married Jullian. I think this movie had the best soundtrack for songs.
