Fall to me screams opportunity. Not only does a new academic year begin to unfold, but so does a wardrobe. Fall invites us to click “Place order” in our carts and claim our style. Whether it’s something new to the fashion world or bringing something back, there is something for every type of fashionista to embrace this fall. What could be more exciting than fall fashion?! Here is a list of what I want to see out of fall fashion this year.

Texture

It can be hard to put together a piece of clothing that isn’t your typical cotton or polyester material. One choice can either compliment the fabric or make the entire outfit underwhelming. Look to integrate various textures in your outfit. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Think lace, satin, pleats, suede, etc. Walking out of the house in a full length top and lace pants or a pleated skirt and sweater screams chic and classy. You may not have done a lot to put the outfit together, but the texture does the work. Add something to your closet that will speak for itself.

Monochrome

We always look to match our top and bottom. However, we forget that a color can complement itself on its own. Monochromatic outfits are often overlooked. It’s simple, yet serves. It not only elevates your loungewear, but it also elevates your “going out” outfit. You’ll exude so much power no matter what room you step into effortlessly. I usually go for an all-black look but I hope to emulate monochrome outfits in different shades this season. Specifically, denim on denim will be the trend I embrace the most. I also love the idea of cream and a touch of white to create a very neutral, mature look.  Burgundy on Burgundy would really give this season as well!

Capes

A cashmere cape is a dream of mine to say I own and possess in my closet. Something about it just adds this sense of drama. Throw it over with some micro shorts to complete the outfit or even over a dress or maxi skirt. Capes will give you even more confidence this fall. While I wait to add such a piece to my wardrobe, I’ve been loving throwing a jacket or blazer over my shoulders for any outfit to emulate the same look as a cape. It may not serve the exact purpose of the outerwear, but it accessorizes the outfit with just as much maturity. It’s a timeless hack I will be continuously embracing this upcoming fall and in the future.

French Pins

No matter where you are, whether it’s class or the store, you will spot a girl with a claw clip. Contrary to popular belief, I am not a fan of claw clips. They never seem to work for me and they always hurt my head. The best purchase I’ve made recently to substitute the hair accessory are French pins. French pins mechanically work like a claw clip all the while adding to your outfit. They are extremely comfortable to wear and they hold very well. It will keep your blowout looking just as good as before you put your hair up and won’t leave any indents. Also, this is a great wear to accessorize your outfit even further as they give subtle elegance.

These four trends are some of the few things I hope to see and embrace this fall. I guess I’m looking to transform my outfit in a way that is conscious and mature. I hope you can implement these trends into your fall wardrobe this season as well!
