Trick or Treat! As Halloween rolls around, you might be feeling intimidated by the sheer number of costume options available to you this spooky season. For creative and easy costumes that won’t break the bank, I recommend reading further!
Princess Mia Thermopolis
Our first costume is Princess Mia Thermopolis from the “Princess Diaries,” and it’s unique but recognizable, making it ideal for your Halloween night. Princess Mia’s classic look can be found easily on Amazon or in thrift stores. You need a white dress and white gloves, some of which you may already have in your closet! By wearing the perfect princess look that will make your wallet happy, you’re sure to get recognized when your classmates see your iconic outfit.
Strawberry Shortcake
This costume is a gold mine for Halloween, as you can make it a single costume, a duo costume, or a costume for a group! For Strawberry Shortcake herself, simply buy a white top, preferably with a strawberry decal, a pink or red skirt, and red shoes with green striped tights. The wonderful thing about this costume is that it’s so versatile, and there are so many different versions of Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Muffin, Orange Blossom, Lemon Meringue, and all the other characters.
Minions
This costume is so easy and so affordable! All you need is a yellow top, a jean skirt or shorts, and goggles! Take a trip down to the local thrift store or order from Amazon, but either way your costume will come out to absolute perfection. Go solo or pair up with your friends for a group costume that will make your Halloween memorable.
Pitbull
This next one is maybe the absolute funniest of this whole list. I love it when my Halloween costumes are funny conversation starters, and this one takes the cake. Pitbull is both identifiable and not overdone, which makes it the optimal costume for you or your friend group this year. You can easily find an oversized suit jacket, white shirt with tie, and suit pants from any store. Pair it with a bald cap, sunglasses, and a drawn-on goatee for the ultimate Halloween look!
Barden Bellas
My next recommendation is one that my roommates and I will hopefully end up doing this Halloween! Everyone loves the “Pitch Perfect” movies, and I’m honestly surprised more people don’t dress up as the Barden Bellas for Halloween. As is the common theme with most of these costumes, go look on Amazon or your local thrift store for a navy skirt and vest, white shirt, and yellow scarf. It’s that easy, and you and your friends will have an amazing night as the Barden Bellas of your campus. You could even start a real acapella group!
Rob from Love Island
My final recommendation is my favorite, and anyone who watched “Love Island” this summer will immediately get it! This season of “Love Island” was absolutely insane and reached new heights of fame on TikTok and Instagram, catapulting the cast to a legendary status in reality TV. One of the most iconic members, Robert Rausch, is known for wearing overalls and catching snakes. If you want a great conversation starter this Halloween, wear your favorite pair of overalls (or find some at the thrift store!) and add a little snake to the look to complete it.
