I’m a strong believer that music is good for your soul, so I’m blessing your eyes and ears with playlist hits, title ideas, and just some killer song choices.

the intro

Like I said before, music is good for your soul, but did you know it actually has a deeper effect on you than you may realize?

I remember when, years ago, my boredom mixed with my curiosity and I found that there were psychological studies about the effect music has on someone’s mood. You tend to listen to sadder, slower music when you’re feeling blue because you connect with it. Even if the artist isn’t singing about your breakup with that three-week situationship that happened years ago, you relate to it. It’s okay, we’re all guilty of it — we won’t judge you. You know what else doesn’t judge you: music! *que that old trending TikTok sound about house music*

When you’re feeling down, and force yourself to turn on that upbeat music, your mood will eventually alter because chemicals in your body, such as dopamine and serotonin, can be released. Your limbic system is activated and lights up like the Fourth of July, which means the part of your brain that controls emotions, memory, pleasure, and motivation is up and at ‘em.

Music is often used as a coping mechanism and has even been said to ease anxiety. My vote is still out on whether I truly believe it can relieve anxiety since some songs still give me flashbacks to those people, eras, and situations that I would love to leave deeply tucked away in my memory file. But no matter what type of beat, happy or sad, you will find me singing at the top of my lungs while loudly blasting music in the car.

The Better the title, the better the playlist

If the Spotify playlist title is a banger, I’m listening.

I’ve taken the liberty to list some of the most creative, catchy, funny, and all-around interesting playlist titles I’ve seen — whether or not I listened to it.

  2. Brain Soup with Bone Broth
  3. My Taste Hasn’t Changed since 2013 but Now I’m Hotter
  4. Connecting my Toaster to my Wifi
  5. Wee Hours of the Night

I searched to find the most creative ones, and honestly, the funnier the title, the better the playlist. Artists can view the name of the playlist when people add their songs, so it’s fun to scroll through TikTok and see the innovative names people have made.

  1. I’m Not Crying You’re Crying
  2. Songs I Cry to When I Take a Bath
