Fall is here! The leaves are turning, the weather is getting crisp, and the music is getting better…?Â
Yeah, the music is getting better.Â
The autumn air not only provides the best atmosphere for listening to music, but music itself elevates. Taking a walk and listening to music hits so much harder in the fall than in the spring and summer. Specifically sad music in the fall hits harder, I love love love being moody and listening to sad music in the fall.Â
So here’s my ultimate sad girl fall playlist:
“Pushing It Down and Praying ” – Lizzy McAlpine
I fear every Lizzy song should actually be featured on this playlist because WOW those are some of the saddest songs I’ve ever listened to. This song is just so good for going on fall walks and also belting in the car while driving down backroads. I just know Lizzy is hiding out somewhere in my brain because I relate to every single song she releases and the same goes for Gracie Abrams.Â
“Witches” – Alice Phoebe Lou
This one isn’t necessarily sad but it adds some good vibes to the playlist. It’s a perfect song to dance around to while baking fall treats or while getting ready to go out for Halloweekend.Â
“Night Shift” – Lucy Dacus
Okayyy so this one is actually really sad. Lucy’s voice and the way she paints a picture with her lyrics in this song is just top notch. This song will never not make me gasp because of how painful the lyrics are.Â
“I know the End” – Phoebe Bridgers
Fun fact, this song makes me want to throw up because of how hard I cry during this song. As a girl who thought she was going to leave her small town right out of high school but didn’t and now I’m still going to college here (and I love it) this song just really brings out the worst in me.Â
“right where you left me” – Taylor Swift
I’ve never left a single restaurant in my life! I personally never recover from anything and it’s always on a back burner in my mind. So I will always be right there in the situation while everyone moves on. I know I’m a sensitive person who feels things deeply and honestly it is one of my favorite traits about myself, but it can be a blessing and a curse.Â
“Beautiful Boy”- John Lennon
I love this book, movie and song. This song is another one that’s great for fall walks and baking. It’s a perfect mix of sad but also just vibey. I also just find this song to be really calming and I love to close my eyes and imagine I’m on a sailboat (in a perfect world where I don’t get incredibly seasick) just floating around with no cares in the world.Â
“Season Of the Witch” – Lana Del Rey
Who doesn’t love a good Lana song? This is one of the perfect songs to get in the spooky, Halloween mood. This song is what you listen to while you’re setting up the blankets and making popcorn for the perfect movie night.Â
