Growing up with three siblings, I grew accustomed to constant background noise, no matter the time of day. This has naturally translated into my daily routines. When I go to bed, I turn on a comfort show. While I do homework, I have music or a movie playing. When I get ready for the day, I listen to podcasts. Since these habits are a part of my everyday life, I have consumed a lot of media. Specifically, a lot of podcasts. I’ve listened to many of them: Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, This Past Weekend with Theo Von, and so many more. However, my favorite by far is The Broski Report with Brittany Broski.

Brittany Broski is a comedian from Texas who rose to fame in 2019 following a viral TikTok. While Brittany is hilarious, much of her success stems from her relatability and intellectuality.

Often, influencers who gained a following for their relatability face backlash after rising to fame, as they become more out of touch with their audience. Brittany, however, has defied the odds and managed to stay lovable throughout her career. Growing up on Tumblr, she was (and still is) a “professional fangirl.” In her podcasts, TikToks, and YouTube videos alike, Brittany has never shied away from her quirky fangirl interests. One of my favorite examples of this is not from her podcast, but her show Royal Court, where she interviews her favorite celebrities on a medieval-themed set. In an episode with Cole Sprouse, Brittany shares a fan fiction she wrote about the two of them when she was nineteen, one of countless examples of her appealing authenticity.

It is not only her “fangirling” that makes Brittany Broski so relatable. In fact, I would venture to say her most admirable characteristic is her gratitude for her fans. Despite being in the spotlight for five years now, Brittany is still extremely humble about her successes. Also, she continuously thanks her fans for the opportunities they have given her, as seen in the episode “Having a Literal Meltdown Over Meeting Beyonce.”

While Brittany’s comedy and relatability alone would make an incredible podcast, my absolute favorite aspects of The Broski Report are the academic and philosophical topics she explores. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good gossip podcast, but sometimes I want to listen to something with a little more depth. Brittany delivers just that. She seamlessly blends comedy, her down-to-earth values, and pop culture into relevant, meaningful discussions grounded in reality. Presenting a new academic or philosophical fixation every week, I walk away learning something new each time I listen! For instance, in the episode “We Are So Back,” Brittany explores the complexities of discussing Indigenous American history with people from her Deep South hometown. While Brittany tackles extremely meaningful topics in her podcasts, she manages to keep the overall vibe fun and lighthearted in most episodes by tying in pop culture. For example, in the same episode, Brittany spends 20 minutes talking about Sam Hartman, the attractive ex-Notre Dame quarterback.

Let’s not forget, Brittany Broski is a comedian. I don’t think I have ever made it through an episode of The Broski Report without laughing! If you are looking for a hilarious, relatable, and eye-opening podcast to listen to, I cannot recommend The Broski Report enough. If you’ve never watched an episode or heard of Brittany before, you can pick any episode to start with and still be entertained. One of my favorites and a top recommendation is “High and Babbling About the 7 Deadly Sins.”

Podcasts air every Tuesday! You’re welcome for the new obsession!
