Every winter season, fast food places rush to put out the newest and most unique winter and Christmas themed food and drink items. This winter seasons, a lot of fast food places have come up with really creative drinks that people are raving about, so here are the top five drinks to try!

1. Red Velvet Cake Batter Shake at Sonic

This year Sonic released a new shake for the Christmas/holiday season! Sonic is known for their shakes and customizable drink menu, and I can say from personal experience this shake is worth a try!

The milkshake itself is a mix of red velvet cake and vanilla ice cream, with a cream cheese flavored topping to pair with the cake flavor. Super delicious!

2. Salted caramel frosty at wendy’s

During the fall season, Wendy’s released a salted caramel frosty, which goes along with both the fall and winter seasons. With contrasting notes of warm silky caramel, and a cold vanilla ice cream base, this frosty is worth a try!

Since we have a Wendy’s on the KU campus, I would highly recommend taking a stop at the union to try it just like I did!

3. peppermint chip shake at chick-fil-a

With another local KU campus union favorite, Chick-fil-A, the beloved peppermint chip milkshake will make a return. Even though the shake is fairly strong with its minty flavor, the sweet ice cream helps create a good balance.

Again from experience, I would recommend trying this shake, since it’s so fun and festive!

4. White chocolate peppermint shake at whataburger

A fast food chain that is new to Lawrence, Whataburger, has a variety of seasonal shakes that change throughout the season. The brand new shake is full of Christmas spirit, and has a lot of people excited to try.

Since Whataburger is new, I know I will be giving this shake a try, along with some of their other food. I recommend checking it out!

5. Cran-merry orange refresher at starbucks

Last, but certainly not least, I would highly recommend heading to Starbucks to try their new refresher. I loved the holiday refresher, even though I am not a huge fan of cranberries.

Starbuck stores are around every corner, so I would check out one on or off campus to try the refresher for sure! Starbucks is known for their delicious seasonal menu, and they did not disappoint this year!
