Did you forget to watch the Grammy’s? Here are some things that you missed:

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles on March 14th, hosted by Trevor Noah, Daily Show host. Covid protocols were in place, performers were inside while the show was streamed to a small audience outdoors. Some artists performed via live stream, while others were prerecorded.

Harry Styles opened up the show with “Watermelon Sugar,” which won a Grammy Best Pop Solo Performance.

Billie Eilish played “everything i wanted” with her brother FINNEAS, which won Record of the Year. This was Eilish’s second year in a row winning Record of the Year.

Beyoncé was nominated nine times and received the 28th Grammy win of her career. She broke the record for most Grammy wins ever by a female artist, and most Grammy wins ever by a singer. Beyoncé took home four Grammy Awards on Sunday: Best R&B Performance, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video.

The award show did not come without drama…

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion came together to perform “WAP.” Most lyrics had to be altered to be television-friendly, but their performance became a topic of debate. The two artists are known to be risque and did not hold back from provocative dancing. People have taken to online platforms to compare the performance of “WAP” to the cancellation of children’s books that have been recently deemed offensive.

Tim Young tweeted the day after: “The lyrics to ‘Wet A** P***y’ are more welcome in some schools than Dr. Seuss books… just let that sink in for a minute.”

Cardi B quickly tweeted back, saying: “When has a school made kids read the lyrics to wap? I get it wap might be a lil vulgar but stop comparing a sensual song to books that has RACIST content! How can ya not tell the difference? I see that common sense aint that common.”

Regardless of the controversy, Megan Thee Stallion earned herself three Grammy’s on Sunday night: Best New Artist and “Savage Remix (feat. Beyoncé)” won both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

Dua Lipa stunned the media in an all-bedazzled pink outfit. She performed “Levitating” with DaBaby and “Don’t Start Now.” Lipa’s Future Nostalgia took home the win for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Taylor Swift sang a medley of “Cardigan,” “August,” and “Willow.” Swift received her third Album of the Year award for Folklore.

Lil baby, Tamika Mallory, and Killer Mike performed a passionate, Black Lives Matter-inspired rendition of “The Bigger Picture,” which was nominated for Best Rap Performance.

Other performers included BadBunny, Doja Cat, Bruno Mars, Post Malone, John Mayer, and many more.
