“Normal People” was an instant success. With critics’ approval and award nominations, the series has one of the highest ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, a new promise is shining on the horizon. Sally Rooney’s debut novel, “Conversations with Friends”, is getting a 12 episodes season. Here’s a list of everything you need to know about the show:
- The Plot
-
Frances and Bobbi are best friends, once lovers, who perform spoken word poetry. When a famous journalist, Melissa, shows interest in them, both girls see their lives taking an unexpected turn. Frances soon begins to have a strange relationship with Melissa’s husband, Nick, unfolding a series of questions about her life. Losing control of every relationship in her life, including Bobbi, Frances has to face a new dilemma.
- The Creative Team
-
Working together since “Normal People”, the director Lenny Abrahamson, the writer Alice Birch and the executive producer Ed Guiney are back for “Conversations with Friends”. Even though we can expect great work, we won’t be watching a new version of the show they already worked on. “Obviously [it] is a cousin of ‘Normal People’ in a way, but it’s also quite different,” Guiney told the Hollywood Reporter.
- The Cast
-
On the main cast, the recently graduated Alison Oliver will be playing Frances and Jemina Kirke, from the HBO series “Girls”, Melissa. Joe Alwyn, from “Hamlet”, was cast as Nick, and Sasha Lane as Bobbi. For sure, this group has a lot of talent and has everything to impress the audience.
- The Premiere
-
The show is planned to begin filming this year in Dublin and the premiere is expected for 2022. In the U.S, the show will be available on Hulu, the same platform that streams “Normal People”.
Make sure to watch the show when it arrives, but in the meantime, how about a marathon of “Normal People”?
