More and more young professionals are moving to tiktok and earning large followings by presenting educational information in a fun and relatable way. The range of users I follow goes from doctors all the way to lawyers and financial advisors. If you’re like me and spend more time than you should on TikTok, it can be beneficial to look for informational accounts to follow so that you actually get something out of it.

@208skindoc

Dr. Dustin Portela is a dermatologist with over 1 million followers. Some of the types of videos he makes include reactions, questions and answers, skincare facts and product recommendations. Obviously, if you need serious medical advice, you should talk to your doctor instead of watching videos. Otherwise, it’s really interesting to get a doctor’s perspective on viral trends and popular products, and I’ve learned a lot from his videos.

@everydaylaw

Sean Ahern, a licensed attorney, is popular on the app for making videos explaining various legal concepts and analyzing current events through the lens of the law. A lot of his videos include him doing a popular TikTok dance while the text on the video explains a concept. I make it a point to stay updated with his videos because I think everyone should educate themselves on the law, as it’s so important to know your rights. His videos are really engaging and I highly recommend following him if you’re interested in learning more about the U.S. legal system.

@humphreytalks

Humphrey Yang makes informational videos with personal finance and investing tips. If you’re at all interested in the stock market or even just anything money-related in general, his videos are easy to follow and engaging while explaining useful concepts. I’m a business major and still feel like there’s so much I don’t understand about the financial market, so following his account has taught me things that would’ve been more difficult to learn on my own.

@googleslides03

As someone who has a hard time making slideshow presentations engaging and unique, this is one of my favorite accounts. The creator shows that slideshows don’t always have to be monotonous and boring through their tutorials. If you want to spice up your slides, you can recreate some of their designs or even just use theirs as inspiration to get more creative. Since discovering this account, I’m now more open and aware of my creative freedom and ideas to make presentations more interesting and fun.

@leanne_ward_nutrition

Leanne Ward is a nutritionist and dietician, and her TikTok account revolves around nutrition tips and holistic health information. One of my new year’s resolutions was to try to eat healthier, so I’m taking mental notes from her account to try to form healthier eating and fitness habits. She debunks a lot of myths in the food and fitness world. She also has a podcast that I haven’t listened to yet but based on how much I am enjoying her TikToks, I plan to check it out soon.

If you’re also a fellow TikTok addict, you should definitely check out these accounts and reap the benefits of free learning.

Caroline is a student at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing a degree in Information Systems. She enjoys reading, running and spending quality time with her dog.
