Binge-watching television shows is something that’s fun during the moment, but I always quickly regret binge-watching when I later have nothing else to watch. Something that I’ve started to do when I run out of things to watch is to take the time to re-watch some of the older 2000s TV shows that I was too young to fully comprehend when they aired. Here are five underrated 2000s tv shows that I think everyone should take the time to watch!Â
- “Scrubs”
-
“Scrubs” is a must-watch show for anyone who’s a medical drama lover! The show is centered around the medical staff at the Sacred Heart hospital and begins as the two main characters, who are best friends, join the staff as medical interns; then the show follows them as they meet the rest of the staff and work their way up the ranks. Something that I love about this show is that it doesn’t just focus on the role that the doctors play at a hospital, and some of the main characters are nurses and members of the janitorial staff at the hospital.Â
The show is relatively light-hearted since it’s a sitcom, and the characters are absolutely hilarious. The medical elements of the show are definitely entertaining, but the friendships, romantic relationships and comedy will be what has you coming back for more. I should know; I have rewatched the show more times than I can count! The show has nine seasons, so it definitely will give you something to watch for a while if you’re in the mood to binge!Â
- “Ugly Betty”
-
“Ugly Betty” is definitely worth watching if you’re a big fashion lover, have always dreamed of living in New York City or want to work for a magazine in the future! The show is centered around a character named Betty who gets an opportunity at a fashion magazine as an assistant to the Editor-in-chief. She’s not the most fashion-forward person, so the show follows her journey as she works her way up the ladder, finds love and gains the respect of her sometimes rude coworkers.Â
The characters will leave you dying with laughter, and you’ll start to love them despite how evil or cringe-worthy they may be. This show has to be one of the most diverse shows from the early 2000s that I’ve seen and has multiple characters who are people of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The show has four seasons, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy every minute of every episode if you give it a chance! Â Â
- “Psych”
-
If you’re a fan of unconventional detective shows, “Psych” is the perfect show for you to watch! The show is a comedy centered around a character named Shawn, who has extreme observation skills that allow him to easily solve crimes and convince people that he’s psychic.
He wrangles his dad and best friend Gus into solving mysteries with him, and he’s the type of person that always leaves you wondering what he’ll do next. The show is really funny, and it’s also really fun to try to solve the mysteries before Shawn does, which I tried and mostly failed to do for eight entire seasons. Â
- “True Blood”
-
“True Blood” is a great show for anyone who’s a sucker for paranormal romance! It’s a show that features supernatural beings like vampires, shapeshifters and other magical creatures. The main character Sookie is a human that falls in love with a vampire, and her friends and family end up being impacted by this decision. The show was created by HBO, so if that doesn’t tell you it’s a masterpiece, I don’t know what will. I demolished all seven seasons in a few weeks!Â
- “Desperate Housewives”Â
-
If you love a good drama, then “Desperate Housewives” should be the next show on your watch list! The show is centered around the suburban housewives who live on Wisteria Lane and the obstacles that they face in their marriages, with their children and with their friends.
And what drama would be complete without its fair share of murder, sabotage, infidelity, car accidents and incarceration? These are definitely not your typical housewives, and this show is so addicting that it’ll have you up until the early hours of the morning just to find out what happens next. The show has eight seasons, and I wish there were more of them!Â
If you’re in need of some new shows to watch, these are definitely worth checking out!
