During the height of quarantine, I cleaned out my closets solely out of pure boredom. This was the perfect timing because I noticed that prior to the coronavirus, my style was starting to change. Previously, I really enjoyed shopping at clothing stores like American Eagle, Hollister and Francesca’s. Occasionally, I still do shop at these stores but I noticed that I was gravitating more towards Lulu’s, Abercrombie, Free People and Madewell. Although those stores can be pricey, I highly recommend their sale sections and I have even found a few Free People finds at Marshalls! Personally, I do not mind spending money on quality pieces because I know that they will last and I can mix and match them with other pieces. Here are 5 closet worthy items that I think you need:
- A pair of white sneakers
-
I recently purchased a pair of white sneakers from Sam Edelmen and I am obsessed with them. I got them from DSW and they were around $54. They are so comfortable and I think they are perfect for commuting into New York City, whenever that is a thing again lol. I also love them because they are versatile and you can dress them up and down!
- Jeans That Fit In All The Right Places
-
I’ll admit it, I was sleeping on Abercrombie. Previously, when I thought of Abercrombie I pictured the sweatsuits I would wear in elementary school. BUT, let me tell you, Abercrombie has glowed up. Their jeans are expensive but a great investment. My favorite jeans right now from them are the Women’s Ripped High Rise Mom Jeans that are made in partnership with influencer Bre Sheppard. I have a few other Abercrombie jeans and the main thing I love about them is that I can get a few wears into them without having to wash them, whereas other brands they stretch out after one wear.Â
- A Leather Jacket
-
I purchased a faux leather jacket from Lulu’s and it was around $30. I really like it because it is lightweight and was perfect for when the weather was a little cooler and I wanted to wear a jacket for outdoor dining. I also loved it because I could wear it over my shoulders and have a chic girl moment.
- Body Suits
-
I was never a bodysuit person because I found them annoying and never loved tight fitting clothes on me. But, I realized that not all body suits are tight! Abercrombie has some that are flowy on the top and just look really polished when tucked into jeans. I do have a few seamless ones that I like to pair with my leather jacket and it makes me feel really confident in myself!Â
- Gold Hoops/Accessories
-
Personally, I am a huge fan of gold jewelry, so I am a huge fan of the trend. Amazon is a great place to find affordable gold hoops and necklaces. I think accessories make an outfit complete. Currently, the earrings I have on right now are gold hoops with little stars dangling off of them and I never take them out because they go with everything!Â
A lot of the pieces I mentioned above are popular items right now so I am sure that you can find them at a plethora of stores. But I really suggest investing in pieces so that they don’t get ruined or you don’t have to keep repurchasing. I think by trying new fashion trends it gets me out of my comfort zone and lets me try different styles that I might not have originally gravitated to.Â
