There always comes a time when we’re in a food rut: constantly eating the same type of meal (maybe even having ramen noodles twice in one day). However, you don’t need to resort to ordering takeout every time this happens. Instead, try making your meals special with new sauces. Below are three exciting sauces that will take any meal from 0 to 100!
- Breakfast: Quick Hollandaise Sauce
-
Ingredients:
One teaspoon of brown, spicy mustard
One tablespoon mayonnaise or vegan substitute
A touch of water or lemon juice (if you prefer a runnier sauce)
Paprika or cayenne to taste
Recipe Instructions:
1. Mix the brown, spicy mustard and mayonnaise or vegan substitute in a bowl.
2. Add a touch of water or lemon juice (around 1/8 of a teaspoon).
3. Stir and mix until fully blended.
Use this sauce for eggs, savory toast, and as a dipping sauce for chicken. I prefer it on poached eggs, a classic that can’t be beaten!
- Lunch/Dinner: Balsamic Vinaigrette
-
Ingredients:
Two teaspoons of red wine vinegar
One teaspoon of white sugar
Recipe Instructions:
1. Pour red wine vinegar and sugar into a bowl.
2. Stir mixture for one minute.
3. Use this dressing for salads, sandwiches, and wraps. It’s great with raw or cooked vegetables as well. This dressing is also low in calories, which is a win-win in my book!Â
- Lunch/Dinner: Spicy Mayonnaise
-
Ingredients:
Two tablespoons of plain mayonnaise or vegan mayonnaise
 One tablespoon of ketchup
Hot sauce, sriracha, or gochugaru (add less or more depending on desired spiciness)
Recipe Instructions:
1. Put mayonnaise and ketchup into a bowl and stir until fully blended.
2. Add hot sauce, sriracha, or gochugaru to the mixture.
3. Stir the sauce again until fully blended.
Use this sauce for sandwiches, wraps, vegetables, or even with French fries or tater tots! For days you need a kick of flavor, this is the perfect sauce to use!
