This is one of the best times of the year… even though physically going back to school isn’t an option, dressing well still is. Look good, feel good – why stop putting in effort in just because your classes are online? Getting up and putting yourself together will keep you motivated while staring at a screen all day and (hopefully) prevent you from crawling back into bed and missing class or procrastinating homework.
The first thing to do to update your style is to start fresh; some processes are slower while others take a little more time. If you’re indecisive (like myself) the best thing to do is flip all your hangers in the opposite direction that you normally hang them in as you wear each of your pieces; anything still facing the usual direction at the end of the month – get rid of. If you’re trying to change your style to get this done ASAP, try the Marie Kondo method (this is also a great and quick little show to watch). The tips and tricks she gives are helpful if you’re sentimental and an emotional attachment has turned you into a slight hoarder. Ask yourself if you really need those 27 hoodies or those 4 black crop tops.
After getting down and dirty reward yourself with some new things and spruce up your style. BASICS. Ensure that you have a plain black and white shirt and some nice fitting jeans. Basics may not be everyone’s cup of tea but they’re perfect for layering. Mixing and matching also works better with solid colours but don’t be afraid to try a pattern that’s out of your comfort zone. There’s also no shame in looking on Pinterest or online for some outfit inspiration. One other important detail is the details… jewelry and accessories can make or break an outfit. Lastly, when you go shopping (or shop online) have an honest friend but trust yourself and know what you like.
