When I was in high school I saw some commercials for Her Campus. I loved that the company was based in Boston, which is where I am from. I have always loved writing, but never knew how I could implement it into my life. When I learned more about Her Campus, I applied as soon as I could. When I got the email that accepted my application I was so excited to get started.
I am a makeup fiend, so some of my favorite articles that I have written were ones about makeup or nail polish. However, my most cherished article is the one I wrote about being an aunt. Spending time with my niece and nephews always brings me great joy, and getting to write about them made my heart truly full.Â
During these unprecedented times it has been hard to write articles and find inspiration. My favorite thing about HC has been meeting so many incredible women at my school, some that I would not have met if not for HC. I am grateful for the amazing executive board members that I have met over the years. I was fortunate enough to get promoted to the executive board when I became our Twitter Director, a role that I have loved so much. Social media has done so much for me, so to be able to apply my skills and help boost the amazing writers and women in my chapter has been amazing.Â
I feel so fortunate to have met so many people because of my writing. Her Campus also gave me the confidence to believe in my voice and its importance. To say that has changed my life is a bit of an understatement.Â
My biggest takeaway is that everyone should have an uplifting support system like the one I have with this amazing group of women. If you have something that you are passionate about, HC is the perfect place for you. I have written about all sorts of topics and even ones that I never thought I would.Â
Her Campus is a wonderful place to help discover yourself. I have enjoyed reading so many amazing articles, many of which have inspired me in one way or another. It is so important to read about other peoples experiences to help broaden your perspective. I would genuinely recommend every college student to check out their Her Campus chapter, and if they do not have one, to try and start their own. I feel like the impact of this community is truly immeasurable.Â
Thank you to my amazing E-Board, editors, writers, friends, and confidants. This has been one special ride and I feel beyond privileged to have spent majority of my college career as a member of Her Campus. Stay well. Sincerely, Chanel.Â
