Saturday, November 14th is National Pickle Day. As a pickle enthusiast, I was surprised to learn that there actually is a National Pickle Day. Now, as a pickle enthusiast, I have both favorite and less-than-my-favorite pickle flavors. So, I will be reviewing different types of pickles. Keep in mind, this is my personal opinion, and you might prefer a type differently than I do.
The Review Scale
I will be reviewing dill pickles, sweet pickles, bread and butter pickles, spicy pickles, pickled beets, pickled green beans, and pickled green olives. They will be reviewed on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, and 1 being the worst. There will not be one of each rating and some might have the same ratings. For dill pickles, I will be reviewing the classic Milwaukee baby dills.
Dill pickles: I love dill pickles. I could eat an entire jar of dill pickles at once if I wasn’t afraid what would happen to my insides if I actually did that. I rate dill pickles: 10/10
Sweet pickles: I like sweet pickles. They are nice to eat, but I can’t eat as many sweet pickles as I can dill… I rate sweet pickles: 8/10
Bread and butter pickles: These pickles are… fine. I have nothing against them. I don’t hate them, and I don’t love them, but I will eat them. They are best on hamburgers. I rate bread and butter pickles: 5/10
Spicy pickles: Why mix pickles and spicy? Pickles are vinegary; vinegar and spice should never mix. So I don’t like spicy pickles. I rate spicy pickles: 1/10
Pickled beets: I love pickled beets… almost more than dill pickles themselves. Pickled beets are the perfect amount of sweet and salty. So I rate pickled beets: 10/10
Pickled green beans: These taste similar to the dill pickles, but there is less of a dill flavor to them. My mom pickled green beans from our garden when we had one, so maybe this isn’t a super common thing… I have no idea. But I rate pickled green beans: 9/10
Pickled green olives: I like pickled green olives. Sometimes they have too much vinegar flavor and taste sour, but I like them with hotdogs and hamburgers. Not as good as dill pickles though, so that is why I rate pickled green olives: 8/10
Just a reminder: this is my opinion, so you might enjoy one other flavor more than me or dislike one of my favorite flavors. So whether you like dill pickles as well, or think spicy pickles are the best, we can agree that pickles are delicious. And if you don’t like pickles… that’s okay too! We all have different food opinions.
