2020 has been a whirlwind of a year, to say the least & social media has influenced our lives more than ever before. So it’s easy to say that many trends for Halloween costumes this year have been inspired by our favorite apps, celebrities, and trends from the past few months. Here’s the top 5 that I, and many others, expect to be showing up on your Insta feed this season.
- Kim K & Paris Hilton
-
This iconic duo coming back together blew up on social media in the past few weeks. Taking inspiration from Kim and Paris’ old 2000’s looks is a perfect way to combine fame and y2k vibes all in one. Grab your juicy couture tracksuits and reconnect with your former blonde/brunette bestie and you’re all set!
- TikTok Star
-
TikTok has basically taken over everyone’s life at this point, and if it hasn’t then you must be living under a rock. Charli, Addison, Dixie & many other stars are major inspirations for Halloween looks this year. All you really need to do is throw on some high-waisted skinny jeans and a crop top. Make sure to also nail a few TikTok dances along the way.
- Space Cowgirl
-
This trend is one of my favorites and maybe the most popular for Halloween this year. The space cowgirl trend came about a few years ago but is super popular again this year. The look can be achieved in many ways. Start with a cowboy hat, some metallic clothing & for the rest…anything goes.
- Y2k
-
Rock your low rise denim jeans and skirts with some butterfly clips and bedazzled leather for this look. Think Destiny’s child and Lindsay Lohan vibes. Clothing from this time seemed to have disappeared forever, just like Britney’s Spears blonde locks. Until recently, when brands started to fall in love with this trashy, yet chic style again. Not only is this a trend for costumes this year, but also in the daily fashion world, many are adopting this way of dressing once again.
- Hamilton
-
Personally, I haven’t seen this musical, but from what I’ve heard it’s pretty amazing. It has been trending even more since it came available to the public when released on Disney+. Head to your local costume shop and grab your nearest powdered wig and corset to bring yourself back to the late 1700s.
- COVID-19 Themed
-
Crazy to think dressing up as a doctor or a bottle of hand sanitizer like these kids shown above could actually be a trend this year. Or throwing on a tie-dye sweatsuit with some slippers that match to really show that quarantine look. I think we’re all hoping this trend, in particular, won’t stick around.
Always remember to wear your mask, stay 6 feet apart and have a happy and safe Halloween!
