There are only 2 weeks until election night and with that comes the stress and anticipation of finding out who the next president will be. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, we all face the stress of the political climate in America. Election night poses the question of where will this country go in the next four years and, especially during the pandemic, our voices need to be heard now more than ever before. So, as you are filling out your ballot this election, here are some ways to destress during the 2020 election.

1. Listen to music that makes you feel good

Whenever I am feeling stressed or down about something I always listen to music that makes me feel good. Make a playlist on whatever music app you use and add songs that make you happy or make you want to jump up and dance. Just blast a great song and get up and dance and sing along.

2. Meditation

Listening to a good meditation always makes me feel relaxed. Find one that suits you and prepare to feel a wave of relaxation.

3. Go on a walk or run

Exercise of any kind has been shown to relieve stress. I love to go on a nice little walk or run to clear my head of stressful things. What also helps is going somewhere scenic where you can exercise with a view. I always go hike this trail by my house where there is a view of a beautiful lake. When I’m taking a little water break or stretch break I just look at it for a few seconds and I feel at peace.

4. Journal

Get all your feelings out by writing them down in a notebook.

5. Do something creative

Whether its coloring, photography, painting, or collaging, I always find doing something creative really helps.
