It’s finally starting to feel like Fall! I cannot decide if it is the leaves changing, the crisper weather or the pumpkin candle I bought, but October is in the air. As the leaves change, I feel the energy changing. Fall tends to give me a boost of serotonin because I love the simple yet satisfying changes the new season brings, such as autumn colors and the smell of cinnamon & pumpkin. Happy October everyone!

Another feeling in the air this year is anxiety. It has been a long, tough year for many of us — some more than others, and this Fall brings more than just a change in leaves; it could bring a change in the President. Much like the orange leaves will fall off trees this season, hopefully our orangist elected official will fall out of his presidential seat as well. Fingers crossed.

TIS the season. Here are some Black-owned candle businesses you should buy your next candle from when you are settling into your cozy pj’s, hot cider in hand, and ready to watch Hocus Pocus.

Many of these candles are named after various streets, cities and landmarks in my hometown of Atlanta :) check out the “Edgewood” candle — my favorite!

I hope everyone is doing well and taking care of themselves. I just want to remind you all reading that it is okay to take breaks, time to yourself, and have a breather. We cannot produce our best work and be the best version of ourselves if we do not take care of ourselves. Take a day, a weekend, or even an hour to reset. My favorite thing to decompress is to shower, light a candle ^^, clean my room, and play good music. This helps me cleanse my body, my surroundings and my energy.
