I think it’s about that time in the semester where we could all use a small break to destress. One of my favorite ways to destress and relax is by binge-watching a new series or movie.
Here are some shows and movies on Netflix that I am either currently watching or I am interested in eventually starting:
1. Enola Holmes
This movie is based on the book Enola Holmes: The Case of the Missing Marquess and features Millie Bobby Brown as the main lead. The film revolves around Enola Holmes, the sister of Sherlock Holmes, who embarks on a journey to London in search of finding her mother.
This movie caught my attention because it seemed lighthearted while being interesting enough to enjoy. I also have never watched any Sherlock Holmes movies, so I did not know what to expect.
2. Emily in Paris
I initially heard about this series on Twitter when I saw it trending. At first, I was hesitant about watching this show, but after hearing all the commotion, I decided to give this series a try. It’s a quick watch as each episode is only about 30 minutes long. While I don’t think this show is quite for everyone, I personally enjoyed watching it and am interested in seeing what the next season may bring.
Emily in Paris is about an American girl who ends up moving to Paris for a job opportunity. While in Paris, she faces many ups and downs as she tries to find her place in the city. Throughout the series, we see her struggle with both her love life and work-life as she’s faced with a huge culture clash. This movie is created by Darren Star, who also made shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, and Sex in the City.
3. Ratched
Ratched is a show that I think people who like shows like American Horror story may enjoy. From watching the trailer, I could already tell that Ryan Murphy played some role in either developing or creating this series. And I was right.
According to Netflix, Ratched is a suspenseful drama series that tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched. In 1947, Mildred arrived in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On an undercover mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of a dedicated nurse. Still, she hides growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.
