5 Ways to Make Your Room Warm and Cozy this Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Fall is here, so that means it’s time to get rid of the spring and summer decor and cozy up your bedroom space. Having the right decor in your room will give you this effect from a long day of school or work.

1. Add Different Layers and Textures

Fluffy comforters, throw blankets, and faux fur rugs are an essential way to make your bedroom feel more cozy and warm. Throw blankets are perfect to add on top of a quilted or duvet comforter. You can also add four to five throw pillows to your bed to go with your regular pillows to set everything off.

2. Add Candles and Diffusers

Adding candles, diffusers, and wall sprays will help create a warm sensation to your bedroom. My go-to favorite scents for the fall are anything with warm vanilla, bergamot, pomegranate, amber, and sandalwood. These scents will help relax your space and give you a calm feeling when in your room.

3. Dimming Your Lights

Get some lampshades to go over your lights if you don’t already. You can also change your lightbulb colors to get a dimming effect. Also, you can purchase some LED lights to go behind your television and your room to create this effect as well.

4. Add Darker Colors

Warm up the room by adding warmer tones such as accents of gold, reds, oranges, emerald green, and darker yellows. These colors will help give you that fall look and feel in your room.

5. Add New Decorations

Switch out your old decorations and add the new wall art. You can also add some plants to your nightstand or window. Adding some decorations will warm colors to help make your walls cozy. Everyone wants and needs an excuse to go shopping, right?
