Hi everyone!! It’s a new year, and it obviously looks a little different than years past. But by adapting, we will all be able to get through this! I won’t lie, this year has been hard for multiple reasons. One of the hardest things that we all share is a completely different college experience. For some of you, that might mean being on campus with totally different rules, and with others, you might not even be on campus. It can be hard and draining to take classes online from wherever you are. I am headed into my fifth week of classes, and I have some tips/things/ways that help me to stay sane during these crazy and unknown times!
- Benzene Paper
-
This is a tip for all my STEM majors out there!! I saw an ad for this paper online, and I decided to try it, and LET ME TELL YOU. This paper has hexagonal rings all over it, allowing for an extremely easy way to draw complex organic molecules. I got mine for 10 dollars from Amazon, and it has saved my life in my chem class. I would highly recommend this, for anyone who needs to take quick and copious notes.
- Study Space
-
I am currently taking classes remotely, and one of the biggest struggles I have dealt with is being able to get into the school mindset. I have created a designated space in my house where I attend my classes and do my homework. It has really helped me to switch my brain from a home to a school mindset.
- Self-Care
-
Everyday, I try to take at least an hour to do something fun. All day zoom calls can be draining, and I usually need a mental break between all my calls and the homework. I take an hour a day to do whatever I need: eat a snack, go on a walk, take a nap, etc. This gives me the energy boost I need to finish my homework and put full effort into everything I do.
- Exercise
-
Working out has been a necessary part of my day. I love being able get out my stress, and emotions through a constructive outlet. It helps me to feel more alert, and helps keep a positive mindset during these times. I personally love to dance, so I use a dance-cardio workout in addition to core work. There are of course days where I have to skip, but I never regret making time out of my day to exercise.
All four of these are ways that I used to cope with the constant change of the world today. I know it is stressful, but we can all do it!!!
