I am always on the lookout for restaurants that have clean and healthy options. Raleigh has a decent selection of cafes and restaurants that serve healthy food, and these are my top three. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good cookout tray, but I also love to fill my body with the protein and nutrients that it deserves!
- Kale Me Crazy

Located right near campus in Cameron Village, this restaurant has a ton of options including acai bowls, poke bowls, salads, toasts, wraps, coffee, and smoothies. For all the avocado lovers, they make a mean avocado toast. My favorite item on the menu is the chicken pesto wrap: sliced grilled chicken, basil pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella, lettuce, and cucumbers wrapped in a delicious spinach tortilla and grilled to perfection. If you are a pesto addict like me, I definitely recommend this item. They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and are willing to customize items to fit certain dietary needs.
- Raleigh Raw

If you ever find yourself needing to get out of your house and wanting a place to study, I highly recommend Raleigh Raw. Located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, this cafe has one of the best acai bowls in town. On their menu, they have a build your own poke bowl option for all the sushi/poke lovers. They also have a wide variety of cold-pressed juices and smoothies. My favorite drink on the menu is the blue lemonade made with blue spirulina. Very sweet but very refreshing in the summer heat. This cafe also has a ton of vegan and vegetarian options.
- Rush Bowls

If you didn’t go here freshman year, are you even an NC State student? I love Rush Bowls because of the wide selection of bowls and smoothies they have. The serving is fairly large and will fill you up for a long time. I have brought my parents here, and they both love it! Every time my mom is in Raleigh, she always requests we go here. My favorite bowl in the greens guru with almond butter. Great location and reasonable pricing!
