If you’re like me and you’re spending most of your quarantine time mindlessly scrolling through apps for entertainment, here are some apps that I recommend to kill time.

Twitter

Twitter is where most young adults receive world news thanks to Twitter’s news page, so it’s important to try to stay regularly updated with what’s going on in the world. Always remember to fact check just in case though! Twitter is where I find most of my laughs for the day, so if you’ve been sleeping on Twitter, wake up!

Pinterest

I love Pinterest because you can really plan your life out on this app. I have boards for future homes, traveling, recipes, wedding, etc. There’s no limit to what you can find on this app. I’ve noticed that as you’re collecting interests to your page, it helps you realize what your priorities are and what you want your life to be like someday. Pinterest is a good source of personal hope at least during these times. My favorite board I’ve made is dedicated to positive quotes that really help me through the issues I’m facing.

Tumblr

I know you’re thinking that 2013 is over and why am I still on Tumblr, but this is actually one of my favorite apps because, like Pinterest, you can save photos to your blog that are aesthetically pleasing to you and create a unique layout to your page. I tend to reblog pictures that I would hope to one day take myself, and this app also helps to visually see where your values lie. There’s also that anonymous factor, where you don’t feel obligated to follow all your friends, because not many of my friends even have Tumblr, so I just follow random blogs that are aesthetically pleasing while my name is not featured anywhere on my page. This really allows for your blog to take on its own identity.

Wordscapes

I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy word games like Boggle where you create different words from one word, and this app does just that. There are thousands of levels so you’ll never run out of words to rewrite. Right now, I’m on level 6,896! I’ve been playing for years, however. If you’re looking for a quality word game, I recommend Wordscapes!

Mahjong

Mahjong’s a fun game where you match tiles, but it can get challenging. This is another more intellectual game, so if you’re looking to challenge your brain, I recommend this app! I got my start playing this game when there was a version of Mahjong at the Webkinz arcade! There are hundreds of levels, so you won’t get bored. You may get frustrated though, like me.

Tik Tok

Yes, I caved and downloaded Tik Tok. There’s some funny content on this app, and while it never will be a real replacement to Vine, it’s pretty close. I’m not planning on learning any of the dances found on this app, but that’s become a fun challenge for people to kill time at home.

YouTube

We all know that YouTube has so much content that no one person could ever watch in their lifetime even if they tried, so you’ll never run out of things to watch. You’ll probably even fall down a hole and get to watching something completely different from when you first opened the app. My favorite channels at the moment are: Santagato Studios, Jenna Marbles, Shane Dawson, Jeffree Star, Cody Ko, Aspyn Ovard, and Cinema Sins.
