What You Can Do To Keep Yourself Sane During Quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

I can speak for everyone when I say that being quarantined is something that no one was expecting. Because of the unfortunate circumstances, typical everyday activities are now limited to prevent the spread of COVID-19. So here are some things that you can do at home to keep yourself preoccupied so you won’t bore yourself out of your mind.

1. Give yourself an at-home spa day

With everyone being stuck at home for who knows how long, it is the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home. Paint your nails, make a homemade face mask, give yourself a bubble bath; just do whatever makes you feel beautiful.

2. Do your makeup and take a bunch of selfies

Before the quarantine happened, I would only put on makeup for special occasions. Now that nothing important is going on, I am playing around with my makeup and even capturing what I did on my phone for everyone to see. I’m picking up new skills that I have never had before and making use of my time.

3. Meditate

With all of the craziness happening in the world right now, it is important to take some time out of your day to just clear your mind and be in the moment. Meditation is the perfect way to keep yourself calm and focus on yourself.

4. Try out a new recipe

I have always loved to cook and find recipes online or on Pinterest. With all of the free time I now have, I have gotten my hands and kitchen dirty because of the treats I have made. From pancakes to waffles to cookies to brownies; all of which I have made from scratch.

5. Find an at-home workout

When it comes to a healthy lifestyle, I have not been the best at working out on a daily basis. The best advice that I have been given was to choose a workout that best suits you, and stick to it. Whether it’s pilates, yoga, aerobics, or even watching a bunch of dance tutorials, find a way to keep yourself active during quarantine.
