I feel like we should all be ableĀ

To hold up little signs above our heads

1-10, an average scaleĀ

To prevent us from ever having to answerĀ

This stupid, overasked

Meaningless (asking for lies)

Question ever again.

Ā

Then again, weā€™d probably

Need to find a way to lie

About how ā€˜wellā€™ weā€™re doing

Because letā€™s be real, nobody

Asks this question becauseĀ

They care to know how you are,

Just ā€˜politeā€™ passive-aggressive callouts.

Ā

Honestly, Iā€™d prefer to be honest

90 percent of the time

Let everyone see how tired and struggling

I can be while looking

The best Iā€™ve seemedĀ

Or how amazing I feel

When Iā€™m not put together at all.

Ā

Once we finally break past

The pointless pleasantries of society

And accept the real answers from people

The question ofĀ

ā€œHow are you doing today?ā€

Would take on far more meaning

Than the trivial five seconds we give it.
