With finals coming up, this time of the year is very stressful for college students. If you are like me, sometimes just telling yourself “it will be ok” is not enough to reduce your stress. Thus, here are four products to help you stay calm:

Diffuser

Diffusers are surprisingly calming. Whether you choose to get one that diffuses essential oils or not, watching the mist come out can be a refreshing distraction from all your stress. Not to mention, it leaves your room smelling good and reduces some of the dry dorm air that harms your body and skin.

Weighted Blanket

Whether you are having trouble sleeping or feeling uneasy, having a weighted blanket can provide a sense of safety and calm down the nervous system. Even wrapping it around you while you’re studying in your dorm or watching Netflix can be really beneficial in reducing stress.

Lotion

Find a nice smelling lotion that can serve as a bit of aromatherapy. The process of putting on lotion also forces you to take a break from your work and thoughts and focus on this one task. It also provides a sense of self-care; sometimes, just feeling like you are doing something good for yourself is calming. It also leaves your skin feeling soft which is a major plus!

Melatonin Supplement

I often find that my sleep significantly suffers when I am stressed. After days of restless sleep, your body feels exhausted and run-down and it is hard to focus on any work. To combat sleepless nights, try taking a natural melatonin supplement. I use a gummy chewable supplement made with natural ingredients like chamomile. I find it calms me down just enough for a good night of sleep without leaving me drowsy in the morning.

While academics are a great part of college, it’s important to remember that your mental and physical health should always come first. Stress is unfortunately a by-product of life, but with the right mindset and tools, it can become more manageable over time. If you are feeling especially stressed lately, try giving some of these products a try and find what helps you relax the most!
