Climbing out of bed each morning can occasionally be the most difficult task I face each day. Mainly because I am always up late completing assignments or facetiming friends and lets face it, your bed is always comfier when you have to get up!
Waking up earlier helps me manage my time better and gives me more time to either get daily tasks done or do things I don’t prioritize during a regular day. When I lived on campus I would use the extra time in the morning to go to the gym, eat a proper breakfast and get some homework done without being distracted by friends. Now I use the extra time to do about the same, but mainly to beat crazy traffic!
If you are finding it hard to get tasks done, time to yourself or you just have serenity as your goal, I suggest adjusting your alarm clock to an earlier time. Below I will leave a few benefits of waking up before the sun or at least before noon!
-
Workout
Waking up earlier leaves you with no excuse of not having enough time to get a quick sweat sesh in! My favorite perk of a morning gym sesh is having full access to all the machines with little to no wait time, and it wakes me up for the day.
-
Time
Maybe it’s just me, but when I wake up early I feel so much more productive and the day feels much longer.
-
Nourishment
Breakfast is definitely needed when you have a long, busy day ahead. Take time to sit down even if it is just for ten minutes and enjoy that cup of tea or yogurt. If you enjoy eating breakfast maybe even try to make yourself an omelette or Irish fry in the mornings!
-
Homework & Studying
The library is practically empty at 8am and during the few times a semester I go before my classes I feel like I get the most done. None of my friends are around to distract me and checking off assignments before 10 a.m. really gives you the sense of productivity. (I would suggest this to anyone who crams or finds themselves panicking about being behind on assignments.)

Running Errands
Whether it be grocery shopping, laundry, emails or meal prepping, there is always something at the end of the week that we forgot to do and have no energy to do it. Wake up and throw that load of laundry in the washer, or get to the store before you run out of food!
-
Self Care
Incorporate a skin care routine, style your hair for the day or listen to your favorite playlist freely. The extra time in your day can also be dedicated to you and your happiness.Â
Take advantage of the quiet and solitude that comes with waking up early! Finally, commit to the daily routine that you have always wanted by waking up early and getting on with your day.
