My latest article covered some of my favorite movies about love to watch this February, so now I’m gonna share my top three favorite love songs. Listen & love!
“The Girl” by Dallas Green of City and Colour has been a song I continuously return to since I found it several years ago. Gentle vocals with light, uplifting guitar makes this song the sweetest serenade. The lyrics convey that maybe this song is a thank you or tribute to a partner who truly puts effort into a relationship. I love it because those people deserve all the love in the world.
Favorite Lyrics:
I wish I could do better by you
‘Cause that’s what you deserve
You sacrifice so much of your life
In order for this to work
While I’m off chasing my own dreams
Sailing around the world
Please, know that I’m yours to keep
My beautiful girl
“Better Together” by my favorite music artist of all time, Jack Johnson, is absolutely perfect in my eyes. It’s a really relaxing and comforting song to listen to and it reminds me of my childhood. I think this song is about love across time and about two people that are, of course, better together than apart.
Favorite Lyrics:
I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We’re better together
“Futile Devices (Doveman Remix)” by Sufjan Stevens is another beautiful song about love. It’s quiet, mellow, rhythmic, and reminds me of daydreaming about someone. It’s a little bit sad in a nostalgic way, but that’s honest. I just adore this song.
Favorite Lyrics:
And when I sleep on your couch
I feel very safe
And when you bring the blankets
I cover up my face
I do
Love you
I do
Love you
In my mind, there’s nothing like a good love song. Hopefully, these songs are new to you and you’ll listen and fall for them like I did. Either way, give them a try! Happy Valentine’s.
