31-year-old, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, most widely known as Rihanna, stepped into the spotlight in 2005 as a professional singer/songwriter. She was born February 20, 1988 in Saint Michael, Barbados. The young 17-year-old from Barbados, began her career with Caribbean influenced music when she auditioned for Jay-Z, president and CEO of Def Jam Recordings. She began dominating the charts in 2007 when her single “Umbrella” won her a Grammy Award.

After topping the charts for about ten years, with singles like “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name.” She won several awards including nine Grammys, 13 AMAs, and 6 Guinness World Records. Rihanna left Def Jam records and released her eighth album, Anti in 2016.

But, being one of the top selling artists in the world wasn’t going to stop Rihanna from evolving and creating new ways to inspire and uplift people. In 2012, Rihanna founded the Clara Lionel Foundation to honor her grandparents. This non-profit organization would fund education, and emergency preparedness & response programs worldwide. She then started a cosmetics line called Fenty Beauty in 2017 and a clothing line Fenty in 2019.

Since the start of her entrepreneurial career, Rihanna took a short hiatus from music as she worked on her two businesses and signed with a new label, Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Rihanna is a prominent black woman in the music and fashion scene, due to her hard work and dedication to her craft. She has a relatable, down-to-earth personality and continuously shows her support for the black community. She’s an inspiration to people everywhere and has become one of the most powerful and influential women in the world since her debut.
