How to Show Your Friends You Love Them This Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Valentine’s Day is the widely celebrated day of love. People usually feel pressure to have a significant other to call their Valentine or wish that they had a lover to give gifts. But if you’re single this Valentine’s Day, or simply want to celebrate with others besides your S.O., fear not! There are many ways to express and share love with your friends on this special day.

Have a Valentine’s Day makeover session.

This is a really creative way to have fun and bond with your girls on this special holiday of love. Get together and practice Valentine’s Day themed makeup on each other! This can make for super cute photos and will help you and your friends bond seamlessly. If makeup isn’t your thing, Valentine’s Day themed nails are also a really fun thing to do. Instead of breaking the bank at a salon, try doing your own mani/pedi with your girls! If you’re feeling super ~fancy~, you can even buy acrylic nail sets on Amazon to try out, like this one.

Plan a cute photoshoot.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get all dressed up in your pink or red attire. Having a Valentine’s Day photo shoot with your friends will not only be a great bonding experience, but it’ll create memories that will last a lifetime. You can buy cheap Valentine’s Day props at dollar stores to add to your photos! This idea would be great in conjunction with the makeover session, because you can take photos with your girls in your uniquely done Valentine’s Day makeup that you did for each other!

Write love letters.

A really heartfelt and simple way to share love with your friends is to write love letters to them! This might seem like an awkward gesture at first, but it can mean everything to someone who has been going through a rough time or feels lonely on Valentine’s Day (which unfortunately, is a lot of people). In your love letters to your friends, you can include your favorite memories with them, their best qualities, or simply write about the reasons why you have love for them. It’s a really easy gesture but it will no doubt mean a lot and will last longer than candy or flowers.

Prepare a Valentine’s Day meal.

Cooking is honestly one of the best ways to spend time with friends for a great payoff. You can get creative with your meal ideas and try your best to make them Valentine’s Day themed. A charcuterie board would be a really easy way to do this. Another really cute idea would be to create Valentine’s Day themed desserts! Chocolate covered strawberries are perfect for this occasion, and an easy recipe can be found right here. This dessert is super simple and will taste amazing, no matter how skilled in the kitchen you are (or aren’t).

Throw a “Secret Santa” type event.

A really unique way that you can celebrate this day with your friends is to secretly exchange gifts to one another! You can basically just follow the procedures of a Secret Santa game, but exchange Valentine’s Day related gifts like candy, chocolates, stuffed animals, flowers, makeup or anything that you think will make your friends happy. This is a really easy way to ensure that everyone is included and gets special gifts on this day.
