Winter isn’t necessarily the most high-energy time of the year. It can be cold, dark, snowy, and often times you may feel like hibernating until spring. These are a couple tips and tricks to help boost your energy during the somber winter season!
1. Drink water and eat healthy stuff
It can be difficult to drink enough water and eat healthy at the best of times, but this is especially important to do during winter. Drinking water and getting at least seven to ten servings fruits and veggies each day is a wonderful way to ensure you feel energized and stay healthy. It can also prevent you from getting sick.
2. Let in the light
Whether letting in the light means opening your blinds or switching your favourite lamp on, light is so important to boosting energy and mood. It is easy to just drift back to sleep and spend a day in your pyjamas if your living space is naturally dark. However, ensuring you are getting enough natural or artificial light can boost mood, productivity and energy.
3. Exercise
This one can seem obvious, but it is so helpful! Walking, running, playing indoor sports with friends or spending time at your local gym can all be great ways to reduce tiredness during the winter.
4. Don’t forget to rest
If you are still feeling continually sleepy, napping when you can during the day or getting a seven to nine hour sleep each night are both wonderful ways to reduce tiredness. Sleep has also been proven to improve your mood, memory and overall health. But sometimes the best cure for tiredness (particularly in the winter) is simply to get more rest.
