Finals week is alive and well in Kennesaw, and amid all the stress, it’s crucial to find time to relax and release tension and anxiety. It is also important to remember that although grades are important, they are simply numbers and do not define who you are as a person. Here are tips and reminders to help keep you afloat during finals week.
Get some rest
It’s easy to want to force yourself into staying up all night to cram for a test, but at the end of the day, you must get rest. If you feel tired, take a power nap, or turn in for the night. When you feel that you’ve done all you can, you should be able to shut down so that you feel rejuvenated to take your exam.
Failure ≠ Failure
If you end up not receiving the grade that you did not desire, don’t get discouraged. It’s easier said than done, but failing an exam doesn’t equate to you being unintelligent. Mistakes happen, and failure only shows you what not to do in the future. As mentioned before, grades are just that– grades. Though they are important in your academic career, they are not a reflection of who you are as a person.
Listen to yourself
If your butt hurts too much from studying at your desk for the past 5 hours and your stomach is growling, please listen to your body! Move around, take body breaks, and nourish yourself. It’s also important to put good things into your body so you can have healthier and better energy to push through your exams.
Stay focused
It’s easy to goof off if you’ve been super focused on studying for a while, but keep in mind that it’s important to remain focused, especially if you’re on a time crunch.
Reward yourself!
After a long, hard week of keeping your nose in the books, celebrate! You’ve done well and come to the close of a great semester. Go out with friends or spend some time reflecting on how far you’ve come while in college.
