Being environmentally friendly doesn’t have to stop with you. You can – and should –be conscious when buying for your pets, too. As someone who tries to be environmentally friendly and conscious about what I buy, for some reason, I never thought about the fact that I should do the same when buying for my pets. That’s why I partnered with Boba & Vespa to test out their newest product (and even some products not for sale yet) and share it with you.
I first learned about Boba & Vespa through their Kickstarter for their Water Gem, which is a cardboard cat house. Not only does the cat house look sleek, but it’s also made out of sustainably sourced cardboard. This means that, when your cat house reaches the end of its life, which all products do, it’s recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable. With no glue, no dyes, and no plastic, you can sleep easy knowing that you’ve bought something that won’t harm the environment.
When I first took the Water Gem out of the box, I was thankful that they gave me step by step instructions that are very easy to follow. Since there’s no glue used in Boba & Vespa products, they use a locking mechanism within the cardboard. I was nervous that I was going to break the cardboard tabs when inserting them into the slots, but I realized very quickly that this is a strong, quality cardboard.
After putting the cat house together, it looked even better than I thought it would. Anyone who owns a cat knows that they LOVE cardboard boxes. My cat is no exception, as you can tell from this picture, she loved the Boba & Vespa Water Gem.
I also tested their cat litter waste bags, which is a product coming out soon. Their waste bags are made out of cornmeal, which not only means they smell kind of like popcorn but that they are also biodegradable. They are a great alternative to planet-harming plastic bags and are completely biodegradable and compostable.
