When I first came here for school, I joked that the Quad Cities only had three things–tattoo shops, pizza places, coffeehouses, and references to the Mississipi River. As a budding coffee aficionado, I was absolutely thrilled and came across a few new favorites that I don’t have back at home.Â
- Cool Beanz Coffee House
-
Location: Rock Island, ILÂ
Practically every student at Augustana knows about Cool Beanz, as you can easily walk there from campus. The Cool Beanz menu includes collegiate-themed coffees such as “The Sorority Girl” and “Geo. 101” as well as traditonal coffee drinks, tea, other beverages, and food.Â
- The Brewed Book
-
Location: Davenport, IA
The Brewed Book is a coffee shop, but also a used bookstore. What I like most about it is the gorgeous aesthetic inside. I’ve only been there once (as I’m afraid of parallel parking), but I definitely want to go again. My chai latte was delicious.Â
- Coffee Hound
-
Location: Bettendorf, IL
I’m not a dog person, but Coffee Hound is the exception. My favorite from there has always been the Snickers Latte, but they have other cookie/candy drinks like Heath Bar and Oreo Lattes, too. They also have signature brews like “Peanut Butter Pup”, “Hazel Mutt”, and “Mad Lab Java”.
- AWAKE Coffee Company
-
Location: Rock Island, IL
AWAKE has the benefit of being yummy as well as inexpensive. In addition to traditional coffees, AWAKE also offers creatively-flavored Energy Brews and are open later than most of the other places on this list (closing at 9pm).Â
- Dead Poet’s Espresso
-
Location: Moline, IL
Recommended to all English Majors ever, Dead Poet’s Espresso offers traditional coffee, tea, smoothies, Italian soda, and blended drinks as well as other things. (One of those other things are T-shirts and I am living for it.)
