You may not even realize it yet but being unaware on how to handle your emotions can really effect how you live your life. Emotional awareness is when you can understand exactly what you’re feeling and why. Once you start to become more aware of your emotions you can start managing them and discover your emotional intelligence.

Being able to process and rationalize your emotions before you act on them is a very respectable trait to have. The more control you have of your emotions the easier it becomes to live the life you want. I have been catalyzing as a person ever since I started working on my emotional intelligence. I can think of so many benefits of becoming emotionally aware but what has been the most significant benefit in my life is knowing how to handle situations. I find myself taking control of situations and standing up for what I believe in. I feel like a true boss lady because I can see my life so much clearer now that I have been able to work out my emotions. It wasn’t an easy path getting to where I am now, and it won’t be for you either but that’s okay.

Becoming more aware will give you a clearer picture of where you are in life and you can start understanding how you feel about that, and then address it. Experiencing such a clarity in your life is definitely worth facing even your toughest problems. My biggest challenge was facing the fact that I was afraid. This might sound a bit ridiculous–especially because I still even can’t pinpoint where this fear came! I guess I was afraid of the fact that I had to be my own biggest motivator, supporter, lover, and shoulder to cry on. I was scared to break through my comfortable state of living and start shining. But no one should be afraid to shine! I would have never made these realizations if I didn’t start to think about why I was unhappy. I had to really dig deep into my emotions and sort all of them out.

You have to really understand where each of these feelings come from and why you’re experiencing them before you make a breakthrough. When you become uncomfortable by confronting some of your problems/emotions, it actually means you’re making the most progress. You are making progress by being uncomfortable because it means you’re processing whatever it is you’re facing. I learned this from one of my favorite influencers, Amalie Lee. Who once captioned her instagram post with some amazing insight:

Becoming emotionally intelligent will really change how you live your life for the better. You will notice you are able to manage your relationships better with everyone around you. You start to act more professional and calm. You will begin to process your emotions before acting on them. You’ll feel more confident and more like a leader. You will start to be aware of where you are in life emotionally and mentally. Best of all, you get to know yourself better, and then you can thank yourself for being able to recognize you needed to change some things. Next time you’re upset, take the time to sit with those negative feelings and process them until you begin to understand them better. But it’s also not just negative emotions you have to process–it’s the good ones too. Next time you’re really happy take the time to understand exactly why and take the time to appreciate those feelings. Starting is very easy.. hey you can even start right now by processing how you feel after reading this, but don’t stop there!
