Two weeks ago, our chapter Her Campus Broward helped out with our college’s Psychology Club in the Cannabis, Cancer, and Coping Seminar. We had a wonderful turn out, around 60 people attended in which was a huge success! So, in light of the seminar, here is the major differences between hemp vs. marijuana.Â
Hemp is both zero, high effect.
Marijuana is major high effect.
Hemp
High levels of CBD and contains <0.3% THC.
CBD extracted from the stalks and stems.
Hemp plants can grow up to 20 ft. tall in height.Â
Â
When it comes to both Hemp and Marijuana, they both are from the cannabis plant species, Cannabis Sativa.
Â
Marijuana
High levels of CBD and contains 10-14% THC.
THC and CBD extracted from flower and buds.
Marijuana plants rarely grow to over 5ft in height.Â
Â
What is THC?
Is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s pcyhological effects.
What is CBD?
Is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant.
